Implementing Numeracy & Literacy ProgrammeThis charity was involved with implementing the Government’s Numeracy and Literacy Programme. This necessitated a major spend on print, publications, conferences and lecturers in the region of £35million. The previous five years had seen rapid growth but the purchasing systems had failed to keep pace with the changing needs of the organisation. Sterling were retained to undertake a full review of all areas of purchasing and to develop a purchasing strategy. This included a full review of purchasing, interviews with buyers and suppliers, an analysis of findings and the development of strategic options. A workshop was organised to agreed the preferred options and key tactical issues. An implementation plan was prepared and presented.
